![]() Sometimes it's an actual BSOD but other times it's just a crash. ![]() ![]() ![]() I have been having computer crashes pretty regularly (sometimes several times a day) while using my computer since mid-2020 (i.e. My FastTrack has been working fine (in terms of audio quality) on Windows 10. I have a russian version of Windows 10 so the names in the sequence are pretty approximate, but this should give you the main idea. Then you should choose second option which should look something like "Search for drivers on this PC" and then "Choose from available drivers", then you'll probably need to uncheck "Only compatible devices" and choose manufacturer's driver from the list. Keep in mind, that these manipulations will increase sound latency, which is not a problem unless you're playing live instruments.Īlso you may try to manually assign proper driver for your device: right-click on it in Device Manager, choose "Properties" then "Driver" tab and press "Update Driver" button. You may also increase a number of kernel buffers by using proper slider. Open your Asio4All settings and slide "ASIO Buffer Size" slider all the way to the right. Now I'm more confused & frustrated than before.Regarding your problem: first of all, crackling and distorted sound could mean that you have very small buffer size. Problem is I pick up absolutely no audio thru it? Unlike the Fast Track issue where I can hear audio & see the EQ bounce when I'm playing the Snowball gets absoultely no signal to the software. I plugged it in & Windows recognized the device & Mixcraft recognized the Snowball as a recording device to arm for recording. Since I was having these issues I dug thru my closet and pulled out an old Blue Snowball mic that is pretty much a USB plug & go w/ no drivers required to install. Program still locks up consistently when enabling ASIO in the Preferences section & also my recording volume is so faint that it's barely audible. For the M-Audio drivers I used a previous release just to see if that might make a difference. Yesterday I deleted all the M-Audio Fast Track drivers and ASIO drivers and re-installed them. I'm mic'ing a 1/2 stack w/ the mic 6" away so amp volume is definitely not an issue. When I look the armed track in Mixcraft I'm getting the EQ to light up around 33%-50% volume. That's the only volume control on the Fast Track. The Fast Track does have a mic volume knob that I have cranked to the point that in my headphones I can hear a pin drop in the room. PS: If you do you happen to suggest it's the ASIO drivers can you also provide a link so that I can confirm I'm snagging the right ones. This is getting extremely frustrating and I'm to the point that I feel like it's simply that Mixcraft hates my M-Audio Fast Track. Mixcraft never locks up when I'm doing anything including recording MIDI but as soon as I hook up the M-Audio Fast Track and switch over to ASIO in the Preferences I get all sorts of program freezes where I have to shut down (force down) the program and restart. I've tried every combination of knob & button position on the Fast Track hoping to luck out but no dice. Then I hit record & I get a faint recording that sounds as if it was recorded a mile away from the mic. The volume in my headphones that are run out of the Fast Track also is good & loud. The Fast Track recognizes a signal from my guitar amp & lights up, also the EQ on the armed track lights up recognizing a signal. I tend to think the drivers are ok because I am getting audio recorded & if the drivers were not correct I'd get no audio recording, more of an all or nothing scenario? For the recording track that is armed I have selected M-Audio Fast Track > Left Channel. My instrument recording is extremely faint.įor settings I have my Preferences set to ASIO with the correct recording & playback devices selected. I'm using Mixcraft 6 along w/ the M-Audio Fast Track Interface & when recording live instruments I consistently encounter 2 issues.
